A Tátrai Band 1987-ben alakult magyar jazz-rock zenekar.

Based on the 1861 masterpiece by Hungarian playwright and poet Imre Madách, Az ember tragédiája (The Tragedy of Man) is a powerful drama in 15 acts that guide us through the past and the future of mankind. The narrative begins with the creation of the world, the first and the last acts frame the story that show us Adam and Eve travelling through space and time in search of the meaning of life – with the guidance of Lucifer himself. Gyorgy Kurtag composed his Kafka-Fragmente in the mid-1980s, and these forty settings of text fragments by Franz Kafka remain one of his most often-performed works. Although the cycle contains no single narrative thread and tells no coherent 'tale' it has become quite common to present it in staged versions. Many of the movements are extremely brief; in the present recording 11 of the movements are less than half a minute long, and the shortest (Es zupfte mich jemand am Kleid / Someone tugged at my clothes) lasts only 13 seconds.

László Lajtha was one of the most significant Hungarian composers of the 20th century, though wider recognition of his music was prevented by the Communist regime. The Seventh Symphony is a tragic, dramatic and revolutionary work directly associated with the brutal suppression of the Hungarian Uprising of 1956, the composer stating that the musical instruments grieve at the tragedies of Hungary, pray for truth and quote the sounds of the hymn for a peaceful future. The entertaining Third Suite is light in tone in the manner of a divertimento, while Lajthas music for the film Hortobágy reflects the wild beauty of life on the Hungarian puszta.
